Sweet Bloggin' friends

Won't you come sit for a spell and chat with me??

I love sittin' at my table in the morning especially when I'm enjoying the candlelight and quiet of the house. On this mornin' we had a storm brewin' and it was darker than normal so before I tacked my day and breakfast f I took time to pray, read my bible and devotional. This is something I try to do everyday. I don't always get it done but I feel it really helps me throughout the day.  Do you have some quiet time everyday?  I think it's very important to our health.

I wanted to tell you about two ladies today that I really enjoy reading their blogs daily.  The first one is such a hoot! She is starting a new blog all about vintage dresses, right up my alley.  My closet is becoming more and more dresses since I started getting some deals at thrift stores last summer.  Dresses are so easy, especially in the summer.  They're cool and breezy if you catch my drift!  I think they are more figure flattering too.  Her name is Cat and she's known as the Vintage Housewife.  She is giving away a vintage dress on her new blog.  The best part is she has several to choose from to fit any gal.  If you're not into dresses she has a fabulous cute purse too!

Another bloggin' sister I wanted to share with you is Aunt Ruthie from Sugar Pie Farmhouse.  She is such an inspiration for homemakers.  From her inspirational scriptures, household tips, decorating and pies what more could you ask for!  She is truly letting her light shine.  On her blog she is sharing a book she has written titled "Watermelon and Fireflies!"  It's a summer themed book with all kinds of summer activities and ideas.  I have purchased my copy and if you would like to get yours hurry, you only one day left! Sale price ends tomorrow.  Ladies, this is an e book (computer)  not a hard back copy.  I plan on putting mine in a cute red gingham binder when I get a chance.  I think if you like Gooseberry Patch books you'll love hers too.

Until next time sweet friends,

Carey

Easter Blessings and more on vacation...

Happy Easter, hope you had a great weekend.  We had a busy weekend.  I hosted a Easter brunch for my husband's parents Saturday.  We attended church services, went to my Aunt's open house for her birthday, she turns 90 later this month! Then we came home and hunted for eggs.

My kiddos in their Easter finest. This is a delicious strawberry cake that I made from our brunch, I'll share more on that later, it's very easy.

I promised some more vacation pictures so here are some more.  Later this week I will share our media room project.  We're done with that now.  It looks really nice and works great for us too.

These were some of the bath houses when they were popular at the turn of the 19th century.  They competed with one another for business and have the most luxious architecture and interior designs to draw people in.  They spared no expense they were inspired by the Romans and everything was marble and stained glass, all state of the art for the day.  The native americans believed the springs have healing powers and told the settlers about them and after the train people began to travel to Hot Springs.

My son catches a fish.

My daughter got a Bass too.

This little gardening bag was on our guest bed.  My friend got it for us and it made us feel so welcome.  I love the idea of putting a little guest basket together for people when they come to your house.  It was filled with seeds, notecards, easter towels and a garden tile.  I plan on putting it in my garden so I can be reminded of our friendship.  We had a great trip and I feel so blessed to have good friends.

Have a great Monday,

Carey

Wedding pictures and some of the house!

My daughter had an awesome opportunity to be a part of our dear friends wedding.  We knew them about 6 years ago when we lived in MO.  We watched as this young girl and her sister grew up right before our eyes.  They were there with us when we had both of our kids as well... we would get together and eat and have the best time.  I enjoyed seeing this family and their extended families again.  It was a very nice wedding.  During the ceremony my daughter was even in the slideshow.  I can't express the joy that we all felt to be able to see them again and share in their celebration.  I cried when I saw my daughter and when the bride came down the isle.  It was very touching.  I couldn't help but think that in 10 more years or so this could be us.  Congrats to Richie and Staci may you have a long happy marriage!

My home is coming along I'll share some more pictures tomorrow.  We hung much needed blinds today and a few pictures and shelves so here are a few pics to tease you with for now.

my new baker's cabinet I purchased at an auctions before we moved that greets you when you enter the house

a close-up of the contents of the cabinet holding my crows for now

the fireplace in our basement

The view from the other side of the room opposite the fireplace.  We plan to buy a big screen TV later.  This is designed as a media room.  Right now we have my husband's gun cabinet and pie safe that holds movies down here so it's kinda bare.

This is the little buffet that greets you as you head down the stairs.  As you can see I still need to fill my bread pans with something and hang our movie night sign.  I found it for 50% off at Hobby Lobby.

Hope you all had a great weekend, our rain is gone and it's chilly here.  Hopefully, I can take some pictures of my beautiful fall trees around the house and area.

Closing on House and Great Friends

Good morning, I have more news about the house, we were supposed to close on Friday but it looks like the big day is Thursday.  I am so excited.  I'm trying to cautionsly optimistic here. Our friends from Colorado are driving out to help us celebrate and move.  Aren't they the best? I can't wait to see them.  It's been a while since we saw them in March.  I love having military "family"  We form such a close knit bond.

Well, I don't have a lot of new pictures to show you so I'll show you some more Fall pretty pictures and leave you for a little while.  I'll be back Saturday for my daughter/son's birthday celebration with friends.  I can't believe she will be ten.

After the move hopefully next week, wishful thinking!!! I'll be taking a little break from blogging but not too worry I'll be back with pics of my newly decorated house eventually.  It may be just a little at a time though. I'll keep in touch with everyone and keep checking on your blogs and email.  I told  Mr. AmericanGirlPrims that internet was necessary that it had to start right away.  LOL!  Ok, I hope he doesn't read that last part.  I just love the way everyone is referring to their husbands that way in other blogs.

Have a wonderful day!

Flowers and friendship

Yesterday after a day of grocery shopping and canceled swim classes again, ugh... I had to hurry home to get to my first aide class and CPR. I got the kids a baby sitter for the afternoon and was feeling that exhausted Mommy syndrome coming on especially since we had spent the morning grumpy due to our 2nd day or rains/storms here in the midwest. I think it's been a record year for rain so far here, it's unbelieveable. Well, to make a long story short sitting in my little wagon was package that said Pro Flowers on it. My first thought was Yipee!!! the DH got me flowers. How thoughtful! I had hinted the other day about a nice bouquet of flowers. Then much to my surprise they were from my best friend Sam. I was so happy! They are beautiful. I just love them and if was just what I needed to get me through the rest of the day.

I met Samantha in North Dakota when we were stationed at Minot AFB together. I think it was one of those friendships that started pretty much from the get go... we have kids the exact same age, we are about the same age and we were both SAHM who had a career prior to motherhood. However she does teach classes online so I guess you could consider her more of a WAHM. Anyway, we had a lot in common. She even likes to bake! We just hit it off. I couldn't be more thankful for her friendship. So this post is dedicated to her. She knows just what I need even though we're long distance friends now. Thanks Sam!

It even came with a box of chocolates. Friends know when you need chocolate!

Have a great day and don't forget to do something special for you friend.
