Halloween Decor and Yummy Treats!

It's that time of year again.  We've been busy here getting ready for costumes and parties.  I put up a few more decorations for Halloween.  Overall, I've paired down my Halloween decorations in favor of more Fall ones.  I take the Halloween things down the day after.  I find myself thinking ahead to Christmas this year.  I am a little sad the weather has been so strange this Fall.  It's either unusually chilly or really warm.  Tuesday we had some wicked storms that came through all of my leaves are down.  Boo...hoo!

This little ghost collection I've had for awhile.  My kids love the one that lights up the most.  I made it years ago in ceramic class.   I didn't get a picture of it my camera batteries died.  You can probably see it in my other photo albums.  I have to put that and the bat every year.  They love the stuffed squeaky bat! Gotta love kids!

Someone else is ready for Halloween too. It's BOO our dog!

Here's a link to some yummy treats I baked this week.  Double Kissed Chocolate Chunk Cookies from Picky Palate. I love the little Pumpkin spice kisses.  You can find them at Target.  I picked up a few bags and am planning on trying another treat soon. If you can't find these near you butterscotch chips can be substituted. These were very cakey.  If you like cake you'll like these. One of the things I like about her site is she comes up with great shortcuts.  These could be made just by modifying your basic chocolate chip cookie recipe or a mix.  Happy Baking!

What are you plans this year? Do you and your family celebrate Halloween? If you do to what extent do you go all out and have the outside of you house looking spooky? Do you trick or treat, pass out goodies, have a Fall Harvest Party? I'd love to hear all about it.

Happy Halloween, enjoy your family

Snow Snow Go Away!

This one is for the pet lovers out there!  Right now this is about all we're doing!  My kids love it they've been out of school for 2 days and playing in it.  Even they are getting tired of it and the reality of make up days is starting to ring true with my 10 yr. old daughter!  She gets it, but I don't think my son does just yet.  So far we are up to 4 days.  So how is it in your neck of the woods??

She just loves it, she frolicks around like a deer and even eats the snow!

Somebody else in our house prefers the inside.

Have a good day!  Stay warm inside if you can too.

My 100th Post and a Give Away!

Good morning blogging friends! I have so much to tell you that's been going on in my life here I don't know where to begin.  Let's start with the fun stuff! A GIVE AWAY!  In honor of my 100th post I will be having a give away.  It's going to be a secret though, a surprise.  I promise a little bit of that wonderful holiday coming up will be included because I know we are all getting the itch to decorate for Christmas.  I have some new shops I have discovered over the last few weeks that I hope to be sharing with you soon.  I also have some new recipes that I have tried.

Now onto some concerns, my DS has been experiencing some leg problems a lot of pain in his right quadricep.  We've passed round one of bloodwork and hopefully he will also get an MRI.  He had this last year and it is very concerning.  He isn't in any sports right now so the doctor doesn't believe it's overuse exactly.  Then my father in law had major surgery on his pancreas this past Thursday so please be praying for our family.

Now on to Halloween...

Our sweet Aunt Princess had some Halloween goodies for us.

We made one more stop and Aunt Debbie and Uncle Jay's house.

It was so nice to have Daddy home to celebrate and go to families houses this year.  I know they enjoyed it too.  I hope this is our new tradition.  Meanwhile back to the give away!  I'm leaving this open to only my loyal followers this time.  Please leave me a comment about what you enjoy about my blog and what you'd like to see more of.  I'll give you a few labels and ideas: all about me, antiques, baking or recipes, decorating, make over projects and thrift store finds, primitive shopping, scrapbooking (if I ever get my room done or unpacked) LOL!  Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!

See you soon, I have my 'puter back, Yeah!

My Dog

Hello blog buddies! I thought I would introduce you to my cutest blog dog. Her name is Boo. We have had her for just over a year and I swear she is my equivalent of a dog soul mate. She came from a shelter and is considered a "mutt" by description. My DH and I think she had shepard in her and her official papers say collie mix. I think maybe some rottweiler too?? Anyway, she has been the best dog. From the very beginning she was house trained and has never had any accidents except when she was sick once. She latched onto me in the very beginning because I was doing all the caregiving and she was around me the most, I think. She loves my DH though. She can't wait to see him when he comes home and if we all go outside and she doesn't get to go it's really pathetic. She loves being with the family. She comes when she is called and listens pretty well. She has never ran away. Her favorite past time is playing ball. I just love her so I thought I would share a little. I know many of you out there are dog or animal lovers too.

Have a great day!
