Valentine's Day 2010

We had a very sweet day in our house yesterday.  Hope you had a good weekend and spent time with your loved ones or significant other. I made my heart shaped pancakes like I do just about every year.  The kids really like them.  Then we went to church and our minister gave a sermon based around the Corith. scripture that talks about, "loving one another"  He talked about how that's not always easy to do.  Your loved ones are easy to love and it's much easier to surround yourself with people you like but God calls us to love everyone even your enemies.  Whoa... that's pretty difficult isn't it?  Anyway, something to think about anyway.  I try to be kind to everyone that I come in contact with but I think it's pretty easy to fail at that.  We should just remember how Jesus loved and try to pattern our own life after him.  Even sometimes when we don't really feel like it we should lift that person up in prayer.

Here's what my table looked like for breakfast.  I used some artificial rose petals, tea lights, paper heart doilies and a white battery operated for the middle.  The napkins have hearts on them too.  I try to shop for things like that after the holidays when they go on sale and hang onto them for the next year.

We came home from our church service ate a simple lunch then I baked a Sweetie Pie for dessert.  I'll share more about this tomorrow.  My husband's mom came over and we spent some time with her and then sampled my pie.  After she went home we had some snacks for dinner and played cards together.  It was a good day! Hope you had a good weekend and enjoyed time off it you were off for President's Day.

  1. Sounds like a sweet day to me...

We used some fun patchwork heart paper plates and napkins all day yesterday, ate pink pancakes for breakfast, appetizers for dinner, and chocolate fondue for dessert. Nothing extravagant, but a bunch of simple memorable moments.

  6. I made heart shaped waffles yesterday and have been using heart patterned plates all week. I love finding plates, etc. on clearance every year for the next year. I think it is the little things like that that our children will remember and cherish the most.
