Now for the cheery part! I bought some of these yesterday when I was out and they really cheered things up. I never buy myself flowers but I got these marked down and for 2.50 I think they're a bargain! I got my Aunt some too, she has to stay in a lot in the winter. Maybe, I will continue to look for little things like this to put on my counter until we have real flowers outside. I saw green apples on someone else's blog that I thought was a great edible centerpiece.
Speaking of my Aunt Princess, she gave me these to look through. Oh my ladies the vintage treasures! My heart skips a bit looking through these old recipes. Some of them are by my mother in her own handwriting and others by my aunt, family members and her friends. I picked out a few and they look like they must be winners due to the worn look on them. The little Baking Powder book is so sweet, copyright 1933. I'm going to try these little lemon tea cakes today. We will be having a shower for my niece in March and I'd like to give them a try to see how well they would work. I just love lemon anything! I'll post the recipe later. I'll let you know how they turn out.
This wasn't tilted when I took it don't know why this happened?
Have a good day, make it a good one!
Carey

The snow has pretty much melted around where I live and the mud is taking over. Temps are in the 40s today so I'm trying not to complain too much. I am not a winter person so I am so looking forward to Spring. I'm thinking some of your lemon teacakes would really put me in a brighter mood!! hint hint!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day Carey,

What a happy post, Carey! I love tulips -- especially before they open. I'm glad you bought yourself some.
ReplyDeleteAnd the recipes must be a treasure! I hope the tea cakes are a hit.
Your tag was so interesting ... I guess I'll have to get my thoughts in order ;)
Spring can come any day now! We had 36 hours of snowing earlier this week and wound up with over 2.5 ft. of the white stuff. The snow banks are unreal! But ice is so much worse.
Beautiful tulips Carey. I have a white pitcher very similar that I too put flowers in... my favorite "vase". Family recipes are such a treasure! I'd love to read how the tea cakes turn out. It has been so downright gloomy and ugly here... uuhhh.... I am definitely taking down the snowmen this weekend. I'm going to add a few homemade Valentine decorations. I NEED the sun.. sure hope it peaks out soon. We got the rain, but no ice thank goodness. School districts a bit to the south of us were closed though. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteCarey seeing those tulips make me think of sunshine, bunnies, baskets full of Easter candy Easter dresses, egg hunts......ohhh I can't wait ! I'm sooo ready to be outside planting veggies and flowers. Anxious to see how your recipe turns out. I love old cookbooks. What a gem your Aunt gave you ! Hope your day was wonderful and your tomorrow is even better !

Those are just a breath of fresh air and worth every penny!!
ReplyDeleteLove the tulips! Aren't vintage cookbooks the best? I love em. Those recipe cards are adorable and such a treasure :) It was in the 70's here today which is very weird weather for these parts around this time of the year. We enjoyed it though. I think it's supposed to get back in the 50's this weekend :(
