Mother's Day Tea

My daughter and I

Christina and I attended a lovely mother's day program at church. I sang in the choir and read about Helena wife of Constantius. Others read about Lincoln's mother and one person read about a member of their own family. It was a very moving program that ended with each of us recalling a mother or someone we'd like to honor in our life. I thought of my own mom, naturally who passed almost two years ago in June. It's hard to be without her. She was my best friend and I miss her and think of her daily. I know that she is watching over me and I try so very hard to be a good mom to Christina. Just being with her makes me think of my own mom. The way I would lay on her lap in church and she would rub my face with her soft hands. The way her singing was like sweet melodies during our church services. I can remember looking up at her and singing with her almost every Sunday. These memories are what keeps me going and knowing that she is with our heavenly father gives me strength and comfort. I would love to know more about a person in your life that you'd like to honor (mother or someone like a mom). Leave me a comment as a tribute to them for mother's day.

  1. Hello Carey. You write most touchingly about your own dear mother and how deeply her love has shaped your life. I can totally see how our lives our touched by special mothers as my own mom is such an influence for God and good in my life and I thank God for her everyday.

  2. Sounds like you and your daughter had a wonderful time!! I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I can't imagine the pain that you went through and still go through when you think about her and miss those special times you shared. My Mom is a very special lady. She is my best friend and I love her with all my heart!! We share the same interests, act crazy together, have fun together and love and laugh together. We are just like two peas in a pod. It is strange because I know she is my Mom, but she seems like my best friend and even a sister at times too. We are so close!!

Hope you have a Happy Mother's Day!!

  5. I feel sad for you Carey to be without your mother. Thank God I still have my mother but my father passed away 10 months ago and my life has been very sad without him.

My mom is the most wonderful woman in the world. She with the help of my father raised me and all of my siblings in church and always taught us to love one another even when we didn't like each other. Mom was stern but never did we feel unloved by her. We were never afraid of her but we definitely respected her. She had a big comfy lap and it was always ready to hold us no matter how old we were or how big we got to be. I always tell mom that if they took a DNA sample of her and I, they wouldn't be able to tell who was who. I am the shadow of my mother. Not necessarily in looks but definitely in personality and inherited traits. Mom is now in her 80's and time is starting to show on her. Her heart isn't as good as it should be and she uses a walker to get around. Still she is full of life and I consider myself blessed each and everyday that I can see her and tell her how much I love her. Did I mention she has a home on our property and I call her or go to her house 7 days a week??? I just love her to death. Mom is not only my mother but she is my "Best Friend."
    With Love,
    AMY

PS.. Happy Mother's Day to you Carey
